Learning to Illustrate

This term we have been given an illustration project in order to teach us illustrator, I've never used illustrator before so it's going to be quite a learning experience! We all had to decide on an everyday mundane object to illustrate and make more interesting. I decided on a Spaghetti spoon because I've always enjoyed illustrating kitchen utensils for some strange reason! Here's my first attempt using the pen tool:

Stop Frame

Last week we were given a new project to create a stop frame animation. Each group was given a logo to animate. The logo we were given is Toyota. We came up with the idea of a wind turbine evolving into the logo. We created each stage using red coloured card, which took a long time! After some editing and sound effects I think it will look really good!

Swoon: Murmuration

I've really got to get back into this blogging, I completely forgot to talk about the exhibition I went to last week! I first discovered Swoon, the New York Graffiti artist last year during a printing project. I really like her style of work and was rather excited when I discovered an exhibition of some of her prints at the Black Rat Studio in East London.

Happy New Year!

So slap on the wrist for me, I've been a very bad blogger. Although the only work I've done over christmas was making as many bags as possible so the posts wouldn't have been particularly interesting! Here are the images of the final three bag I'm going to be selling:

My bags are officially on sale at Big Cartel

First day back at college yesterday, we were told that our newest brief is to be working on illustrator, which I've never used before so I'm excited to learn how! Our project is based on mundane objects and we need to have an A6 postcard displaying the ten items that we cannot live without by friday. We also went to the Hidden Heros exhibition at the Science museum. It displayed everyday objects that are ingenious yet comprehensible and indispensable in daily life and gave information on how they were invented. Items that were shown consisted of hangers, teabags, tissues, matches, pegs, pencils and drinks cartons. The exhibition really did make you think about how you take for granted everyday objects that we all rely on.
